About DueSouthDental

DueSouthDental is a small, independent decision hub for US patients considering full-arch dental implants in Tijuana or Los Algodones. This page is the long version of who we are, how we make money, and the things we deliberately won't do.

If anything here changes, this page changes — we'd rather be slower to launch features than vague about how we operate.

Who we are

DueSouthDental is run by Kim and Taurus Colvin. Kim's grandfather was one of the first patients to receive a dental implant — while her father was in dental school. Her father went on to practice dentistry and oral surgery for 40 years, often in underserved communities, with the same artistry and care he brought to every patient. Kim grew up watching what good dental work looks like.

We are not a clinic, not a travel agency, not a facilitator-on-commission, and not a content farm. We are an independent publisher and lightweight referral hub.

We are not licensed dental professionals. Nothing on DueSouthDental is medical advice. The actual treatment plan is between you and a dentist who has examined you. We help with the framing, cost math, vetting, and city decision — not the clinical decision.

What we are not

• We are not a clinic. We don't operate or own dental practices.
• We are not a travel agency. We don't book hotels, flights, or shuttles for you (though our travel-logistics overlay surfaces affiliate links to recovery-friendly hotels and transfers — see Affiliate Disclosure).
• We are not a facilitator on commission. Many medical-tourism facilitators are paid as a percentage of the procedure cost from whichever clinic they steer you to. That model creates incentives we don't trust. Our fee structure is fixed and deliberately decoupled from procedure cost — clinics pay us the same regardless of treatment size, so we have no incentive to steer you toward bigger procedures.
• We are not affiliated with any specific clinic chain or implant brand. The clinics on our panel are there because they meet the written vetting criteria, not because they have a relationship with the founder.

How we make money

When you complete the DueSouthDental wizard and we route your information to one of our partner clinics, that clinic pays us a performance-based marketing fee. Fees are uniform across every clinic on our directory and paid from the clinic's marketing budget — they do not increase your treatment cost.

Rankings in our wizard are determined by your stated preferences and clinic profile attributes — clinics cannot pay for higher placement in filter-match results. Our fee structure is publicly disclosed. Full disclosure here.

That's the only money DueSouthDental makes from clinic relationships. We may also earn affiliate commissions on hotel, transportation, and travel-services partner links (Booking.com, Expedia, Welcome Pickups, Viator) — disclosed clearly per FTC §255.5 and proximate to each recommendation.

We don't:

• Sell ads.
• Sell email lists or share patient information beyond the partner clinic the patient chose.
• Charge patients for any service.
• Bundle clinical fees with travel-services revenue.
• Deploy retargeting pixels on the wizard or intake pages.

If our model ever changes, this page will change first.

How clinics get on our short panel

Every clinic we partner with meets all of:

• Cédula Profesional (Mexican professional license) verifiable for the lead implantologist.
• At least 5 years operating with full-arch implant cases under one practice name.
• Documented use of major implant brands (Straumann, Nobel Biocare, BioHorizons, Zimmer) — no off-brand.
• Written warranty on implants of ≥ 5 years; warranty terms posted on their site.
• Public review presence on at least two independent platforms (Yelp, WhatClinic, Google).
• Willingness to provide references from 3 prior US full-arch patients we can call.

We do not accept paid placement. A clinic does not get on the panel by paying us more. If a clinic stops meeting these criteria, we remove them. The panel publishes after the pilot is complete — we'd rather take longer to vet than ship a panel we'll regret.

What we publish, and what we don't publish

We publish:

• Our cost methodology and the public clinic-published price ranges we use as inputs.
• Our vetting criteria.
• Honest descriptions of failure modes (price-shopping the wrong way, skipped follow-up trips, etc.).
• The list of clinics on our short panel, after the pilot.

We do not publish:

• Anonymous patient stories we cannot verify.
• Negative content about specific clinics that haven't given us a chance to respond.
• Marketing-grade testimonials. Reviews on partner clinics live on independent platforms (Yelp, WhatClinic, Google), not on DueSouthDental.
